Over to the West Lancs League again for the Charnock Richard home game against Lostock st Gerards. The ground for this level is fantastic was really surprized, well maintained and very tidy . New floodlights going up which will make it suitable for the next step up which i should imagine is the NWCFL . Nice friendly staff and supporters of which i bought a club badge for a £1, thanks very much....the game itself was very one-sided although Lostock were rather skillful with no end product (they did hit the bar) Charnock are the powerhouses of this league winning the title the last 3 seasons and it really shown through the game...all together a great evening of football and one of my fave grounds visited. A quick thank you to the resident photographer for tips of the trade ;).
Welcome one and all...

Second visit to my team Salford City a no-brainer if you bought a ticket for the game at the opening fixture , only £1 . Trying to follow Salford this season as well as ground hopping so hence the game today . Big crowd today for this local derby with Droylsden bringing their decent support as well as first time visitors to Salford . First half was a torrid affair with both teams cancelling each other out . Second half was much better , Salford showing the early dominance going 2-0 up before Droylsden finally woke up and grabbed a goal , all together a game of two halfs with Salford now notching up their 4th win on the trott , heady times for Salford as they strive to move up the pyramid , with these kind of performances i do believe this will be the start of bigger and (better) things.

Well another hard fought game between these two rivals from The Manchester League , contesting the Atherton Charity Cup Quarter Final  not much in the game first half , apart from a disallowed goal for Prestwich and their goal in the 43 minute, Prestwich were the better side in this half with Hindsfords shooting completely wayward. 2nd half pretty much the same with Prestwich again edging it and eventually scoring the 2nd goal.

Ground is a strange one with a pitch with the most obvious hill !!!! but apart from that its a nice little ground without the floodlights hence the 6.30pm start , has a nice little clubhouse where refreshments and tv are available, well worth a visit if your doing the Manchester League or another ground to tick off your list, enjoyable evening , nice ground and a decent game of football.

Lancashire derby this one so always hard fought affairs and to be honest Oldham were are lot better than the scoreline suggests, Oldham played some nice one touch football and deserved going ahead , at which time there was nothing to suggest the final score. Rochdale are also a skillful side and eventually this proved to be going in 2-1 at half time. Coffee was sought out which was served up in the club house. Second half again was keenly contested but Rochdale had the finishing touch which Oldham just couldnt find . Great game all round, which seems to be the norm in the NWCFL .

The ground itself is a neat little ground, rather ramshackle but for a club with not many resources they do well, a number of teams play there from Rugby to Womens football , programme was pretty poor to say the least but again it all comes down to money, time and effort so at least they made the effort , enjoyable evening and well worth the visit.

Salford City are my home club and supported since 91/92 so opening day of the Evo-Stik league , at home to Scarborough Athletic it was a no brainer . So much going on at Salford right now with the 'Class of 92' Ground being updated with the main stand now under some kind of construction , talk of a new club house etc. Club Shop is full of new Salford City merchandise , so the ground is well worth a visit . The game was a hard fought affair first half ending 1-1 and no team really on top , 2nd half was completely different as you would expect with the class of player Salford now have , 3 goals from Seddon in so many minutes and from there it was all over....interesting day all round, good game, interesting times at Salford ahead.

Not normally a game i would attend but the fact it was Manchester United U21s playing at a ground i've never visited it ticked all the boxes , ground itself is very impressive , Football Ground ?? why not !!! used for Leigh/Swinton rugby clubs but this season a number of reserve football teams will be using the ground. The game itself in the 1st half was totally one-sided with Man U encamped in the Norwich half with Man U going in at half time 2-0 up. 2nd half Norwich played much better but still never really threatened the United goal you could really see the gulf in class . United added another with a fantastic free kick making it 3-0 , enjoyed the evening , will we see any of these players at United in 10 years.....i doubt it .

Well a trip over to the West Lancashire League for this local Derby and it was a (Derby) blood and thunder tackles and plenty of passion. Striker for Coppull looked more like a body builder and seemed more interested in posing and strutting around ...a lot of aggression in his manner but none in his finishing...Charnock were the far better team all over the park which told in two goals in the first half , could of been more but the end product was never good enough. Second half to be honest was fairly even, both teams coming close but never quite having the end product. Disappointed no programme was produced for this Derby even just a folded sheet...could of made a few quid as the crowd was pretty good but i understand time restrictions and money , anyway enjoyed the game was a little unorganized myself as i forgot my pen and notebook , Camera died half way through and my watch stopped a minute after kick off.........

Another NWCFL game and WOW what a game , end to end , terrible defending and 10 goals to boot.  Another great night in this league with both teams obviously out for attack and sod the defending , Congleton were 4-0 up inside 30 minutes and basically i'd resigned myself to seeing an absolute battering for Stockport but........how wrong was i , by half-time it was 2-4 and the 2nd half surely couldnt produce as many goals !!!!! ......wrong , Another 4 with 3 of them for Stockport and to be honest Stockport really should have won the game if it wasnt for some poor finishing ...go figure !!. Anyway really entertaining night on a typical British Summers evening..........wind / rain and bloody cold...bring on the Winter.
